Jim is a scruffy Lurcher who came to us through no fault of his own, he’s a very loving, funny boy, albeit a bit sensitive! He would suit an experienced home used to sensitive sighthounds that can help him achieve his full potential!

Jim has had a lot of change recently and needs stability in order to thrive. Jim does have epilepsy which is well managed with medication, we really hope this doesn’t hold him back getting a home 😭

Jim loves other dogs and would prefer to live with another. He can get over excited when seeing other dogs on the lead and be a frustrated greeter, so he needs an experienced and capable handler for this, he may be better living more rurally than in a built up area

Jim loves to run and play, he can be a boisterous player so we have used a muzzle for offlead running as he can be a bit rough for some dogs! Those who are experienced with the breed will understand this!

Jim is a soft love bug at home and loves being close and cuddling. Since moving from his original home, Jim has been scared of being left and so this time being alone is being built up, he is improving, but this would need continuation in a new home

Here is what his lovely foster home have to say about him;

Jim is a real character, from the way he is always so loving to the way he literally flops for fuss. Jim gets on well living with our large dogs, he does bark at other dogs on walks but I think this is because he wants to play. He does this less if muzzled. Jim is happy having a muzzle put on him and he doesn’t try to take it off. We decided to muzzle him on off lead runs as lurchers play can become a bit much. He does not need to be muzzled around our goldie and plays beautifully with him.

Jim likes to be close by his humans, he sleeps well overnight and currently has his bed in our room.

Jim loves to run and so the secure fields are brilliant for him, he jumps and leaps brilliantly and would probably really enjoy some agility training.

Jim gets on well with children and loves a cuddle on the sofa with them. Our children are 10 and 11 years old.

Jim loves his food, and responds well to treats. His recall for treats is pretty good too. But he has only been off lead in a secure field.

Jim knows sit but doesn’t always do it. He is getting the hang of paw which i ask for at each meal time.

Jim does cry but its a quiet cry, mostly when he wants to get your attention. He will stand behind me for example and cry and wag, then have fuss and go and settle.

Jim is hilarious with his mannerisms, hes ridiculously cute and loving. He does struggle with being left, he has managed about 2.5 hours so far, however throughout that he had a few barks, then settled, then barked then settled. He did not appear distressed as such, but clearly prefers to be with his humans. This was the longest we’ve left him and wouldn’t leave him for longer, this was Christmas day, and we came home and took him back with us.

Jim has had 1 seizure since being with us. This lasted a few seconds and he seemed a little confused afterwards for a few moments.

Jim walks pretty well on a lead, although when walking all 3 dogs together he pulls unless he is at the front.

We strongly feel that Jim’s adoptive parents should be home/with him 99% of the time. I.e retired couple. He is ok being left for very short periods of time I.e food shop, however as above he does bark. This is not to say he wouldn’t calm eventually with training.

Jim does have sensitive skin but he has not been itching whilst with us.

I have taken Jim to the doggy wash, and whilst he didnt particularly like it. He did stand and allow me to wash, shampoo, and dry him. He was a bit scared of the dryer but didnt react negatively in anyway.

Jim absolutely loves food, so keep your food off the sides, Jim will be sneaky and get food off the counters. Hes very good at this! Even the butter 🤣.

Jim love love loves cuddles, in bed, on the sofa, anywhere. He is the most loving woofy ever.

Hes a diamond when getting ready for a walk, he puts his head through his harness by himself, it’s super cute.

Hes such a beautiful cuddly woofy and just wants love, which he totally deserves.

Could you be the proud new parents of Jim?
